Hey Y'all!
So
this week was just super crazy! We had to get everything together for
Mikayla's Baptism, speaking in sacrament meeting, and exchanges with our
dear Sister Training Leaders. It was rough, but it ended up being a
great week!
I am going to be honest and say this week was a
rough one for me. As missionaries, we can get discouraged, distracted,
and just plain ole tired. But one good thing always comes from those
kinds of weeks. Learning to rely wholly on the Lord, and trust in His
timing. Sometimes we all just get stuck in this spiritual rut. But it
is the Atonement of Jesus Christ that lifts us out, and encourages and
strengthens us to press forward with steadfastness.
Exchanges
were much needed! They have changed the ways they do exchanges, so now
instead of one of us staying in our area, and the other going to the
other area, we both go to the STL's area. So Sister Porter and I drove
to Calloway on Friday
afternoon. I was with Sister Kinghorn, and Sister Porter went with
Sister Haught. We learned so much on the exchange. The main thing that
I was able to take away from the exchange was that we should never
allow doubt to dig up the faith we have already planted. It reminds me
of a quote from President Uchtdorf that i absolutely love. "Doubt your
doubts before you doubt your faith." Faith not the first principle of
the gospel for fun. It is faith that motivates us to do everything
else. I also realized that faith and trust are two completely different
concepts. But to have a firm faith in the savior, we must trust Him. I
am still learning how to trust myself, and most importantly, to trust
in the Lord.
Sunday
was just a super crazy day. We had ward council, spoke in sacrament
meeting, had lunch with some members, and attended Mikayla's Baptism.
Sister Porter and I were asked to speak in sacrament meeting on
missionary work. Sister Porter spoke on the importance of preparing for
a mission, and did a wonderful job! I was asked to speak on how the
members can help us with the work. To make a long talk short, i changed
the roles, and pretty much said that the way the ward members can help
us, is to let us help them with their missionary work. Every member is a
missionary. :)
Mikayla's Baptism was AWESOME!!! The
spirit was so strong. She had a ton of friends and family there to
support her. She was just beaming with the light of the spirit. She is
just so ready for a new beginning in life. She is stellar!
So,
minus my spiritual rut, stress and travels, we had a wonderful week.
There is always something positive to take from anything we encounter in
life. I am so grateful to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth
today. For the longest time, i knew that i had a solid relationship
and faith in our Heavenly Father, but always felt as though i was
lacking in my faith in the Savior. I know that our savior lives. I
know that he is the one that makes all things possible. Christ is our
rock, our foundation. When we build upon him, nothing can tear us
down. I love that we all can access the Atonement of Jesus Christ in
our daily lives. We are able to partake of not only the redeeming
power, but also the strengthening and enabling power of the Atonement.
My heart is full of gratitude.
I hope that we all can take a moment and remember what it is that we will be celebrating this coming Sunday.
Think of Christ and how you have found new life through him. I have
found new life through Christ. This new life has brought with it joy,
and tremendous peace.
Love yall!
Have a very blessed week!
Sister Wood
