Called to Serve

New Adventures!

Well this week was an interesting one at that.  Just because I picked up my new companion!  Sister Owens and I drove to Tallahasse, which is about four hours from Pensacola, on tuesday night and spent the night at the FSU campus sisters' apartment.  We had a meeting at the church by the mission home before we got assigned to our new compaions.  We recieved some really good instruction on training.  So hopefully I can be the trainer that Heavenly Father needs me to be!  I have already learned so much.
The new missionaries walked in, and as they were walking in, I saw a sister, and i knew she would be my companion.  The spirit has a funny way of preparing you for things :)   My name was called and I am now serving with Sister Peterson!  She is awesome!  She is a convert to the church, and has only been a member for about a year and 3 months or so.  She is super sweet and has a great desire to serve!  I am very blessed to have such a determined and obedient companioon!  She is from Washington, just north of Seattle.  She went to BYU Provo for a year and a summer semester before coming out on her mission.  She is going into Chemical Engineering.  So you can say that she is one smart sister!!

I also got to reunite with Sister Ferney and Sister Smoot!  I roomed with them in the MTC.  So that was fun to see them and see how things were going for them!  Sister Smoot is training a new missionary as well so that is exciting!  What is most exciting though, is that Sister Owens and her new trainee are going to be living in the same apartment as Sister Smoot!  They are going to have so much fun!  I miss my Sister Owens like crazy already, but i know that Sister Peterson and I will have some good times as well.

The work has been going good here in Pensacola.  Sister Peterson and i got to meet up with Ermilisa.  She is doing well!  She is reading out of the Book of Mormon every day and is praying as well.  She has seen her prayers being answered!  That is so great to see her faith grow more and more each day.  She has been praying that the taste of Ciggarettes willl leave her.  She smoked one, and told us she felt so sick afterwards.  So Heavenly Father is definitely helping her out!!
We gained 3 new investigators this week so that was pretty awesome.  Sister Peterson is a very hard worker!   So on Saturday, Sister Peterson and i had planned to see a less active family in the ward.  They of course werent home, so we decided to go tracting.  We tracted down this street, and Sister Peterson felt impressed to go to this house.  She wanted me to show her how to jump into the Restoration.  So we knocked on the door and this nice black man answered.  I just started talking to him about his family and then tied that into the restoration.  I felt impressed that he should read the First Vision account from the pamphlet, he read it aloud, and the spirit bore witness to us all right there on his front portch.  He asked us to pray for his family, and we set up a return appointment with him.  I was just so happy that that had happened!!  It was awesome.  Sister Peterson and I went home to eat dinner.  I looked up his address on the map in our apartment.  When i found it, i was devestated! I obviously have no sense of direction because He was just outside of our area! It felt like my heart dropped to my stomache.  I was so excited to teach Christopher and his family!  but we had to hand them over to the fox run sisters.  So they are planning to meet with him and teach him.  We could tell that he really felt the spirit when we talked about the first vision.  It was so powerful!  So hopefully Christopher and his family will continue meeting with the missionaries!
We had another adventure!  We were planning on friday night, and Sister Peterson is like, um sister wood... there is a frog behind you!  I turn around, and there was a frog just chillin on the wall.  Since this happened a couple weeks ago with sister owens, i knew just what to do.  I grabbed a cup and caught the frog in the cup.  I put a piece of paper behind the cup and then carried the cup outside and let him free haha.  The frogs here are FEARLESS!
Those were the adventures for the week.  I am still trying to figure everything out and just pray that Sister Peterson is Patient with me and that she trusts me.  I am learning so much already though.  Its pretty incredible.
