Alrighty...
So this past week has been a long one to say the least. The 5th week
of the transfer always seems like an eternity because you find out if
your staying or going on that Sunday night. So waiting for Sunday to roll around was killer this week.
We
had some adventures though, that is for sure. Sister Owens' bike got
stolen from the patio of our apartment last Tuesday. That was rough.
We had to file a police report and all that jazz. So Tuesday was an interesting day.
Wednesday,
Ermilisa asked Sister Owens and I if we could come help her. We
assumed "help" meant service because she is renovating her house all by
herself. So we go over to her house all in jeans, t-shirts, and tennis,
ready to work. Ermilisa just looked at us and said " when I said I
needed help I just meant I needed help praying..." haha we felt pretty
stupid at that moment. We all just laughed haha.
Ermilisa
is doing really well. She is praying and reading in the Book of Mormon
everyday! She has started to notice that the adversary is working super
hard on her. She is very strong and has incredible faith. She just
wanted us to pray with her because she said she likes the way she feels
when we spend time with her and especially when we pray with her.
We
had a beautiful kneeling prayer with Ermilisa. I think that will be
something she will always remember doing with Sister Owens and me.
Ermilisa
then told us that she was going out of town, but wondered if there was
another sacrament meeting she could attend while she was gone. We
helped her find a church building on LDS.org She was really excited and
said she was going to see if her friend would go with her. So we were
pretty excited that she was wanting to go to church even when she was
going to be out of town!!
Well this week most of our
appointments fell through so we got to do a lot of finding. We came
across some really awesome potentials. Hopefully we can get in with
them in the next few weeks.
We visited a former
investigator, Kathy. She is super cool! We knock on the door and she
is all excited to see us. She tells us to come in. That was just a
huge shock to the system because we had been facing rejection all day
pretty much. We got to talking and found out that she is a Genealogy
specialist. Whens he lived in Virginia, she was assigned ( given the
calling ) of ward Family History Consultant ! The ward had to get
special permission, but it all worked out. She told us that their ward
had the top number of names submitted to the temple the two years she
was the family history consultant. She is catholic and pretty set in
her ways, but she loves family history and could talk to and teach you
about it for hours. It was super cool.
Sunday finally rolled around. We had a pretty good Sunday,
minus the fact that none of our investigators came to church. :( we
had a good meal and lesson with one of our investigators. So it was
nice to finally get to meet with her. She has been investigating the
church for over a year. The lesson went pretty well. She is always
super busy with work and we have a hard time setting appointments with
her.
Anyway we were finished for the day and had my last day
of 12 week, which was just watching The District 2 Dvds. So that was
good. I am officially finished being a greenie!! YAY! Not that I feel
like im done...I am always learning new things haha.
So we got to planning at 9PM.
That is always the dreaded time of day when we receive transfer
calls... Last transfer they were done with transfer calls around 9:20 so when 9:25 rolled around, we thought we were golden!!
Well
just after our excitement, we get a call from the Zone Leaders telling
us that Sister Owens is being transferred and she is training another
missionary. I was just in shock that my new best friend wouldn't be my
companion anymore. Then Elder Pearson says "oh! Sister Wood! you will
be training too!" I was like hahahahah that's a funny joke.... but he
was completely serious. I WILL BE TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY!!!! What is
this life?! I just finished my own training..... YIKES!!
I
know everything will be good though. I trust that Heavenly Father has a
plan for me and I am excited to experience something new :) Wish me
luck!
So Sister Owens and I will be traveling to Tallahassee to meet our new companions on Wednesday. Its definitely bitter sweet!
I just had to get a picture with Whitney since this is the closest I will get to her in a while :)
Saw these people having fun in the Bayou... It made me miss Pineview :/ You could say I was pretty jealous! :)
